I am going to start curing my live rock today and was wondering if I need to use the bio balls in my sump? I am using my sump from my former tank and the ball are no longer any good. Do I need to buy more? I am going to use the sock filtration instead of the filter pad in the wet/dry. Thanks

Considering the amount of live rock you'll have in the system (mentioned in your other posts) in combination with the skimmer, you'll have all the filtration you need. You don't need the bioballs, and in fact, IMO you're better-off without them.

Using a filter sock is fine - just be sure to clean/change it out frequently. You don't want detritus accumulating in there and decomposing as it can cause water quality issues (ie. higher nutrient levels leading to problem algaes, etc.). Some prefer not to run particulate filtration like this full time, but rather to just do it periodically. It's a good idea to "storm" your rockwork periodically with a powerhead or turkey baster to get the detritus out of it and the filter sock can come in handy for removing the suspended gunk.
