I'm afraid I might be underfeeding my fish. For now, I only have 2 baby clowns and I'm feeding them with freeze dried shrimps once a day. A very small chunk that they eat totally. Is this enough?
You can feed as often as you want, but only enough that they will finish within 2 minutes, and make sure you remove the leftover uneaten food to prevent water fouling.
Agreed. Also, try a bit of diversity in the diet. There's a lot of nutriitous frozen and flake foods out there. If you can find some frozen cyclopeeze, it's an excellent, nutritious food for fish with small mouths. When they get bigger, try some frozen mysis too.
I finally tried the flake cyclopeeze...it's a hit with some fish, but others won't touch it. I'll have to try the frozen stuff when I'm done with the flake.
I like the flake cyclop-eeze. I have found even the fish I have that don't eat it will be stimulated to eat because of it. It also has my clowns colored up very nicely.
fish are very active and it takes a little while to put on weight, i feed all my fish spectrum (hormone free) and (anti-parasitic),formula two marine pellet, frozen krill, frozen mysis shrimp, ghost shrimp, frozen silver sides, and minos. buying fish food is like buying for your self, check the labels for ingredients and compare. i have found krill has a lot of vitamins in it.
Baby Clownfish benefit from being fed 3 times a day as well. Mone get Cyclop-eeze morning & night and blender mush for the middle feeding when I can get to them.
