Just thought I would post this for anybody having problems with film algae on the glass in a new tank set up. I had it so bad that after I would clean the glass it was back on the glass in a matter of 10 minutes. After doing quite a bit of reading on this forum and other articles, I followed the advice given by the people dedicated to ths hobby and it worked like a champ. The algae disappeared overnight, almost as fast as it became a problem. My water param's were perfect in all areas. The solution was simple: increase circulation, reduce nutrients (even in sump), try and keep live rock free of setteled waste, reduce light cycle and lightly stir the top portion of your DSB. Above all, paitence is the key. I was very dissapointed when this problem began (especially having to listen to my wife complain that all the money we spent looked like that) !!! But it all worked out with a little hard work and time.
