I wonder if the water level in your tank is low and the water has to fall from that lip at the output into the the tank? I have the Aqua C Remora as well and do not have that problem. On my skimmer that black lip that guides the water pouring out touches the top of the water.
There are also those adjustable feet on the bottom of the skimmer, perhaps by adjusting those you can alter the angle of the falling water and maybe find a solution. I have the little feet pretty far out, this seems to tip the skimmer forward some, maybe this is why the lip on mine touches the water letting the output flow in without splashing.
I would go fool around with my skimmer now and see if I can get it to make splashing noises but I am at work.

Okay, here's a ghetto fix for that that I say on a buddy's tank. Wish my didg cam was working it'd be easier to show you than to describe it :lol: . You can take one of those el cheapo Glad food storage containers-like the size you'd use to store a dinner sized portion. They have them that are rectangular rather than square or round. The plastic is rigid enough to stand up to the water hitting it.
Measure the output on the skimmer side to side, find a container that on the long side of the rectangle will fit across it. Take and cut the container in half, and cut the bottom out so you have what looks like a "C". If you've measured right you can silicone the "C" parallel across the output (the short sides get stuck to the skimmer housing) which diverts the water downward so you get less splashing. You can "tune" your cutting to make one end higher so it slopes right and slows down the water. The clear plastic isn't all THAT noticable.
Does that make sense?

Yes! Excellent I idea. I do understand everything except the tuning part about angling it right to slow down the water.
Laura D. - the compartment in the sump area where the skimmer is located is low. I don't want to fill up the tank too much as this will affect my surface skimming. I will mess around with those little feet too! Tanks for the reminder I forgot they were there!

again, hard to explain were I could show you what I mean in a second. Okay, if you take the short side of the plastic container (the one that gets siliconed to the unit), and rather than have the container parallel to the water output, cut the sides of the plastic baffle at an angle. So what you get is more of an angle to the plastic baffle, instead of it being 100% parallel to the unit, make it more like at a 45 degree angle inward towards the water output so the water is deflected downwards.
okay i'm pretty sure I know what your saying. So if I were to look at the unit and plastic piece from the top (plan view) the plastic is angling inward toward the skimmer outlet. it will look like a pyramid but with out the pointed top - flat topped pyramid rather.....sound right? sorry if its confusing!!
