hello, I have a female maroon clown and I'm thinking of gettign a juvenile maroon to pair her with. Now I know the pairing process can pontentially be hell, so from your experiences, what has been the least...... stressful I guess I want to say.

Thanks

WEll I have two false perculas that are about to mate. I can tell by their behavior. All I did was started with a small (male) clown and added a large (female) clown and they shacked right up. The second I added the female she took right to the male. Ive heard its a hit and miss thing though.

I am no expert but I believe the only real stress free way of getting a mated pair of clowns is to buy them that way. The next least stressful way would be to introduce the sercond one at night when the lights are out and quickly leave for work without watching the tank. Or you could do like I did and introduce the second clown and watch the battle ensue. After near twenty years of agressive FW I have never seen so much fin fly. I was completely stressed for the life of my smaller clown. In the end, I had a mated pair but the fight sure was a sight to see.

Get the smallest clown you can possibly find to pair her with. The smaller it is the less likely it will want to fight for some territory and dominance so it will quickly yield to the larger female.

Maroons are tough though. They can be mean clowns.

I think you should hook the little dude up with some flowers and a bottle of red wine, dim the lights and put on some soft jazz and let nature take its course

Well I hope by my clowns don't have a dominatrix type of relationship while in the tank. 8O It's seems like that would be very painful for the little guy. I'll let you know what happens.
