Hi reefs.org people and Mr.X, I have been having good success with my tank as of late , all parameters are good, I have a nice mix of fish and corals xcept for a powder brown that is annoying to me. Anyhow I wanted to get a clam. What do I need to know about it. I think I have enough light for it and my levels are good. Do those predator worms eat clams like they do my snails?

do I feed the clams somehow? I haven't researched yet just wanted some pointers from you guys. thanks

What kind of clam? Some are filter feeder, while other are photosynthetic that will benefit with target feeding.

I'm getting a clam soon too :) From my research so far its best to determine which clam you'd like to get because some need more light than others which influences its position in the tank. Also, as mentioned by dupaboy, some may be phyto feeders or more photosynthetic.

the link below to my clam thread may offer some helpul acclimating tips too. I plan on getting a T.Crocea clam BTW.

thanks, i am still nervous about my predator worms, i haven't seen any in 2 weeks and no more dead snails. so i am thinking to buy alot of snails and a clam, they are already eating snails so maybe they will leave the clam alone, i dunno but thanks people!!!!

I have one T Maxima clam under T-12 VHO bulbs. The clam has excellent growth at adding to his shell about a quarter inch every 10 days or so. I keep him in my 55 gal about 5 inches from the surface. I have had no problems with predators. One of the most problematic predators in the reefs are the whelks that show up. The worms in my tank dont appear to be predatious. Besides I have so many Mud crabs in my tank that they eat most of the worms they can find.

I do not feed the clam, its photosynthetic. He does filter feed but I dont give him any special supplements.
