Yesterday (which is outta nowhere) I noticed black blotches on my male false clown and black spots on the female. The have recently laid eggs and have been tending their fry, but that is the only thing different in the tank and no other livestock (fish or otherwise) have anything on them. They seem happy and are eating. Please help me help my little buddies Zero & Echo.

Hi Elena and :welcome:

If I recall correctly this is referred to as "hypermelanization" and is not uncommon in clowns. Nothing to worry about IME.

Any chance you have zoanthids in the tank? In several instances I've seen clowns develop these dark/black spots when they're regularly coming in contact with zoanthids.

i do have zoos,,theyve been in the tank for over a year with my fish. They just really dont even swim on that side of the tank or wander too far from their anemone. Theyre still acting normal, so I hope thats what it is. Thank you so much!
