Water flow

Hi i am totally new to this game and have bought a secondhand tank. The pump i have is a Ocean runner 3500.
But when the tank was drilled it had the outlet hole at the top of the weir box. I do not seem to be able to get enough water down into the sump to feed the pump.

Any idea's would be appreciated.

Hi & :welcome:

Sounds like the pump can push more water than the drain can handle. Put a ball valve on the outlet side (never the intake) of the pump and throttle it back as needed.
