Hi everyone,

Sorry for the multitude of posts. I'm probably being paranoid but I'm afraid my clown has a case of marine velvet.

I don't know how this is possible because I've picked up this tank second hand about 2 weeks ago and this fish has been the only fish in the tank for the past 2 years. I have not added anything new either so I don't know how it could be infected.

In your opinion, does the white patch below his dorsal fin look like marine velvet?

No, it does not look like velvet.

How is the fish otherwise? Active? Eating? Other behavior?

You're welcome. When it comes to certain diseases, you MUST act very quickly, and even then it may be too late. Understandable.

Just be sure everything is stable, water parameters are good, and the fish is getting the best nutrition you can give it, and everything should be just fine. The fish is certainly healthy looking!

How are you enjoying the experience, otherwise? (I'm making an assumption that this is your first salt tank.)

it is a very enjoyable experience. I'm learning alot. Plus it's nice to have a hobby again. I'm really looking forward to adding more fish in a bit

Without knowing anything else about the tank except that it's been hers for a year and a half, expect this fish to be very aggressive towards others you try to introduce. Hopefully the tank is large enough and there are enough hiding places that it should not be too much of a problem, but you should know that many clownfishes, and maroons in particular, are noted for their aggressiveness. (Yes, they can, will, and do draw blood.)
