What do you guys think of this..

Take a 2-3 foot piece of large PVC (8-10 inches)

Get the widest tubing you can find, big enough to fit bio balls inside, maybe mini bio balls..

Stuff the tubing with as many bio balls you can get in there and coil up the hose inside the PVC..

Run water through it and as the water reaches the last 3rd of the hose, the O2 has been used up and now an anaerobic environment has been created for nitrate loving bacteria to grow on the remaining bio balls. Sound plausible?

Sounds simple enough but I havent used those type of set ups. I have seen people make these with 25-50' of 1/4 tubing wrapped in a 4"-6" PVC tube filled with bioballs. They put end caps on the PVC tube and add fittings. I know the water needed to move very slow, the outputs could clog and too much flow could mess the whole deal up adding to much 02 to the chamber. Kind of finicky from what I have read.

Just as simple to make a sulphur reactor and those IMO work very well. If I was going to go for a reactor to reduce trates, this would be my preference.

Good luck
