150 Watts MH HQI Lighting

I am planning 120 gallon tank for sps. The tank will be 30 inch tall. Can I go with two 150 watts MH HQI instead of 250 watts? I know the 250 watts should penerate downto 48 inches, but can will 150 watts HQI lighting penerate down to 30 inch deep?

I'm running 2-175w mh on a 30" deep tank. It's just enough for mushrooms and some softies. Don't even mention my con-ed bill !!

My tank is 29 inches deep. I currently have 2 150 watt 10k DE MH with 2 t5 actinics(blue 54 watt). All my corals seem to do fine.

I'd say 250's over a 30" deep tank is a minimum.
