Part 1: I finally got my 105 gallon tank up and running. I purchased lots of live rock from people that either broke down their tanks or people that just wanted to get rid of it. All of the rock was purchased from people that kept it in water with powerheads and all of the rock had some sort of coralline on it. After I purchased the rock I kept it in my house in rubbermaid containers for 2 weeks with powerheads, heaters, and saltwater made with ro/di water until I got my tank up and running. I finally made saltwater for the tank, added live sand and placed the rock in the tank about +/-200lbs of it. It has been in the tank for about 2 weeks now I have checked my ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, ph etc every 3 days and see no activity everything is good. Does that mean that my tank is cycled? I added some chromis in there and they are very happy eating swimming all over, some snails for the little algae that's appearing, also on the live rock I am seeing some more corraline coming and some other growth that I dont know what it is (it appears and dissappears pretty cool looking too) no signs of die off.
Part 2: I want to rearrange the rock because after the water cleared and watching the fish swim around and the movement of the water I believe I can create a better looking aquascape and a better enviroment for the creatures living in there. Do you think by removing it from the tank and placing out of the water for about 20 minutes just enough time to get it back in properly will hurt the rock and any process it has gone through?
I know I am anxious just like everyone else out there that starts up a tank, but I dont want to rush into anything and blow alot of money on things dying on me, what do you think I should do? Wait, or in your opinion is it cycled and should I start adding things little by little?
Thank you
