Your probably gonna need something alot more powerful. And remember that the magnetic field on a magnet loses pull when you get too far from it and are strongest when they are right next to each other. Your usually going through 1/4 inch and sometimes on some magnets thats too much loss.

Gotto find out the pull at different distances and do alot more research on magnets before DIY a powerhead mount. Someone had a link to magnet types for mounts used on standard thickness aquariums. Think it was pulled off a vortek DIY thread on RC.

I've been using four DC6's from that K & J Magnet site for over three years successfully. I just coat the magnet with 100% aquarium silicone.

FYI, they're holding up a SEIO 1500.
