Glad to be a part of MR and love the info but I just have a few direct ?'s if anyone can help me with. New 12g nano and i have had it up and running for almost 2 months with 2 fish and some small zoas nothing much yet. I got some lr and it has some small green algae looking stuff on it but it is very short and bristle like. Any ideas what kind it is and how to get rid of it? I actually scrubbed the rocks b4 and rinsed them but there r 2 spots that have this and it hasn't gone away. I also have a few really small clusters of what look like the beginning of baby featherdusters or something similar how do i get rid of them as well?
2nd should I remove ALL contents of back filter and completely replace with lr or should I leave the sponge and put lr in the other 2 chambers which is what i have now?
Lastly, does anyone suggest or know if I should add another powerhead in the nano or leave it the way it came? Curious about the amount of flow. If so what size or brand. I know this is a bit but if anyone can answer all or any of my ?'s it would be much appreciated! Thanks

most upgrade the pump for more return, or you could add a koralini nano, nice small pump and doesnt blow hard, would need a pic to tell what the green stuff is, and the small looking feather dusters arent bad so leave them alone, and before others ask plz post pic's

A small Power head would be good. I would also upgrade the return pump to a better pump that runs cooler and uses less wattage. Also see about getting a hydor flo for the return as well it will spread out the return flow nicely. The Dusters are fine. Get a pic up of the algae you're talking about it could be hair algae or it could be cyano but a pic is the best way to ID it for you.

As mentioned above leave the featherdusters. Many things will come and go while your tank matures, even those that you want to stay. Enjoy them while they last. The only way to get that bristle type algae is to scrape off some rock with it. I would do it now while there are only small patches. It is impossible to brush or even pull them off.
