Adjusting Calcium reactor

I having trouble adjusting the amount of effluent out of my calcium reactor. I am presently using a air flow valve to control the drip rate into my sump but after several hours of use it would slow down or stop due to the white precipitate that would settle in the tube. I would then have to open the valve to clear the obstruction and adjusti it again.
