How fast does water evaperate?

It seems that I loose 1-2 gals. per day.

Does this seem correct?

Depends on a lot of things. How big is your tank? What's your tank temperature? How much is the surface of the water moving? Temperature in the room?

My tank loses a gallon everyday and it's only a 40g.

I used to have a 72 that used 1.5-2 gallons a day
My 125 I dont know it's auto top off direct to rodi line

Adding water everyday gets to be a pain.

thats why you buy a auto top off unit, besides making it easier, it keeps your salinity stabil

just over a gallon/day on my 75. i use fans on a temp controller, which keeps evaporation to a minimum. All top off is RO/DI via ATO.

Ah, you're using chief's patented "POUR METHOD"..

You need an ATO. It really helps when you want to go away for a few days...

Ato all the way.....try autotopoff.com and invest in the double float switch. The extra layer of insurance is well worth it. I go through over 2 gallons of water a day in my 210. There are other factors that also contribute to evaporation. Are you using evaporation to cool your tank...aka.fans and is your tank covered or open.

No, just one Koralia (3) 850gph circulating , aimed up too break surface.

Had 2 in the tank but seemed too powerful.

One 150W mh w/ 2 24w atinic pc bulbs.

Rio 1700 return pump, and coralite 65 skimmer w/Rio 1100 pump too run it.

I have a 125 was getting a lot of water evaporation so I got Custom King to build me a auto top off unit with my RODI unit directly hooked up to it good luck
