SWC160 cone protein skimmer

This skimmer is too big for my current system (70gal total water volume) so I replaced it with a smaller one (ro 110int).

I replaced the mesh wheel impeller (which is included) with a needle wheel impeller. Since replacing the original impeller I have had no startup or performance issues. The skimmer and pump are in great working condition and have had a vinegar bath.

Hey Liger did you see a performance difference when you switched to needle wheel? I have the same skimmer and was wondering if it would be better.

the mesh wheel did produce more bubbles but i adjusted the air intake accordingly and that solved the problem. it was too much of a hassle constantly having to blow in the air line to restart the skimmer after every feeding. skimmer became much more reliable with the newer impeller.
