WTB: Reefkeeper Elite Head Unit

Finally took some time to set up my RKE Net with an ALC running my lights. Got it all working perfectly when I knocked the head unit into a bucket with about an inch of water. Doing the old bag of rice routine but I don't have high hopes.

Looking for the head unit only.

i would take it apart and clean the salt residue then put it under a lamp or in a bag of rice to dry it out. you have to dry it good, for a day or so before you power it up.

If it wasn't saltwater, you might be okay via the drying route. If it was then the copper components will eventually erode and short out.
I would check RC sale threads, they usually pop up every now and then from about $100 to $125 for the Elite V2 head unit.

Thanks to both of you. It was of course salt water about an inch so it wasn't totally submerged. Drying it since last night in rice. Popped the back off this morning and there wasn't really any residue. I can see it on myReef when I plug it in and the timers seem to work. The display is blank.

I'm on RC but mostly just to read. I don't have he 50 posts required for the sale thread to be available.

I would leave it unpluged and drying for at least a week. Use alcohol to wipe down the insides. Get the compressed air to clean keyboards and blow the insides of the controller everyday. A hair dryer will also work. I have dropped a bunch of electronics in water and they usually make a comeback. You just don't want to turn it on before it drys. There are lots of nooks that will trap water for a while.
