I've had this Sohal for over three months now. Eats everything (pellets, flakes, mysis, nori, etc). He is about 5" inches long and a beauty. I hate to have to get rid of him, but he just doesn't get along with my purple tang, so he has to go. Asking $150. $125

Are Gems known to be ultra aggressive?
No, all zembrosa can be.. depends on the order i place them in.. I have a gem, hybrid yellow, yellow, large des sailfin, purple..
I just introduced two yellows.. the purple torn/bit his fins off so quick, ended up dying.. I removed him for two weeks and re added and was “reset” this has always worked for me.
I just added a scopas and he was picked on a bit but fine now.
I love the sohals but I see 1 out of 10 having success once they reach maturity.... I take a chance and have w all tangs but I won’t with a clown or sohal..
That being said it depends on fish order, tank size and sometimes their personality.

I have a 300 gallon tank with 14 different tangs

My 3 inch sohal was a good boy for 20 months until it hit 7 inches and no longer liked my
2 mata tangs
powder blue tang
3 yellow tangs
Chevron tang

He didn’t bother my 2 hippos and blond naso

Abs the rest of the tangs where so small I think he left them alone for that reason

thanks Ducati. your reference to removing him for two weeks and re-adding (reset), that was the purple tang you reset?
Yes but now this idiot purple tang won’t leave my scopas alone.. frustrating.. I’m going to need to add only huge zembrosas to have a chance. My gem Is super mellow.. but both my yellow and purple pick on the scopas.. this can be so frustrating to get right.. I only want a large powder and scopas tang.. then I’m done w them
I saw this behavior w the purple occur literally a few hours ago.. he didn’t pick on him at all for 7 days.. the two yellow swipe at him, but the purple looks like he wants to bite him up.. I may have to catch them and give them time out.. it’s a nightmare catching them.. the “reset” method has alway worked..I even have tubes for the scopas to hide but he isn’t taking much advantage

when you called your purple tang an idiot, I laughed, I get it. My wife heard me call my yellow tang an a**hole. She's like how can a fish be an ahole. I said trust me, hes a total d**k and an a**hole. She doesn't get it....

Hahha at least we get it.
Btw, and bump. Update the scopas fought back hard and holds his own.. fins coming back an part of the school now.. I don’t think I can ever add another zembrosa unless it’s a huge one. Lucked out...
I had a corris wrasse jump for the 4th time.. my car was playing w him and he someone is alive.. when I found him the fish was almost dry!
