Kent Salt issue and possible Instant Ocean problem!

I used Kent in the past, but switched to RC when the big salt sales happened. GLad that I did now.

This brings up a good point! We should all test the CA and Alk from the first batch of water from any new bucket. It will save you if something is wrong.

FWIW.......I always test every new bucket I get for cal/alk/mg/PH.....learned my lesson the hard way from using Oceanic..the last bucket I got the cal was 700..so last year I did alittle sample testing to find a new salt to use. I'm using TM now, although it's more expensive than most, it's readily available, has consistant exceptable levels except for MG which is low, but a 50lb bag of mag flake takes care of that and I don't get those mysteries algaes any more that I was getting from those cheaper salts.

I'm fine with my order, I like IO salt. These could be isolated incidents. Plus I don't have a problem with high alk and I run my salt lower than 1.026.

Thanks for the heads up Paul. I'll check my IO.

Last year I bought a bucket of Oceanic with .05 phosphates. What a mess that created :(
