Hi. I've recently re-sealed a 55g hex with GE Silicone I. Its 100% silicone, and was told it did not have mildew protection, and it was aquarium safe. However now 2 weeks into cycling there is a clear slippery substance on the silicone.

Unfortunately I think I know the answer, but, what should I do? Did anyone try resealing a tank with this stuff.

Thanks.:irked:

I've heard of this and a pink slime growing on the silicone. If you decide to redo the tank a few of the vendors here have the aqueon aquarium silicone in stock.

GE silicone 1 is good!, GE silicone 2 is bad!
+1 let it dry

It dried/cured for 4 days. One of the seals cured for 2 days before putting any water in it. I specifically bought that kind because it said no mildew guard. Now that "m looking at the specs online it says it does have it. But if now 5 including 3 others say it's ok then what gives? I am definitely not putting anything live in it until I figure it out. But I have some sponges, gorgonias and halimeda coming on tuesday!

I scrubbed it off.

My #'s are good.
