Cmantis - 60 Cube Build

I am in the process of putting together a 60 cube. The tank is custom starphire with center overflow and two returns. The sump looks like a custom king. I have gone ahead and repaired the stand due to water damage from previous setup and repainted everything. The light tree is made of conduit pipe and has been repainted as well. Now I just need to put everything together and rig up the plumbing. This will be going in my living room and originally was going to be a reef setup but I have decided to go a different route. I will be doing SPS, Gorgonians and Seahorses!

Yeh that is what I thought too but I talked to the seahorse farm and he said it would be fine with medium flow. I guess I would have to choose some SPS that don't need super strong flow. Originally was going to be just gorgonians and seahorses but he kept mentioning SPS so figured maybe I will try.

Ok I need some help here. The (center) overflow box doesn't seem to be big enough to fit a durso inside. The drain hole is just a single one located directly in the middle of the box. It is a 1" drain and I would say the overflow is 4"x4". I am trying to figure out how to make the drain so it both doesn't get clogged and isn't too loud.

* I had started doing research a few weeks ago then abandoned the idea. Now that I am moving forward I have a good amount of research I need to do. So if anyone has any links or advice I would appreciate it.

Tagging along. I have a 60g Cube sitting in the garage that I'm planning to setup for my parents. Just haven't got to it as yet. What kind of pumps do you plan to use?

I was going to use a dc6000 but if going lower flow might do dc3000. Need to do some math on the drain because it only has one which makes me kinda nervous. It has two half inch returns I got new locline for and I also ordered two wp10's with a dual controller.

With the WPs would the new dual controllers work with the original WPs? And would all the new modes work as well?

Go with one return and convert the extra to an emergency drain.

How would I do that just elbow up off of it? Also since its only 1/2" wouldn't it not be able to handle all the flow unless it was only a partial blockage? Another idea which I have used in the past is a reverse wired ATO to shut the pump off in the event the water rises too high.

Just have it as a standpipe. You don't need/want it to be silent. If it's drilled on the back (was thinking the bottom) yeah an elbow with a strainer. You don't need a lot of flow if it's see horses, plus you'll want more dwell time in the sump for skimming. It's a dc pump so it's adjustable, just set it where it can maintain. You're not doing a full siphon drain if you use that stockman standpipe, so the 1/2" is fine. Remember you're returning through 1/2" so the flow can definitely be handled, especially when you'll have it dialed down, and it's an emergency drain...

I need some help figuring out this this sump. Do I put the skimmer in the middle? I don't get the section next to the drain. Would be great for an ATO container but there is a small gap at the bottom between where the drain is.

It does look like an ATO reservoir. Is there baffle between the drain and the middle section? I couldn't tell from the pic. If not, then I suppose the skimmer goes in the middle.

There is a baffle but it stops like an inch from the bottom. So I am not really sure what to put in there. Maybe an Aqua-C Urchin skimmer?

How big is the chamber? It sounds almost how my skimmer chamber is on the Eshopps R-100. But the gap is a few inches up from the bottom. You could still do a fuge there and use the middle for the skimmer.
