I see your tank is only 2 months old, I planned to let the ecology and some inverts develop a few more months before adding any fish or corals.

Where did you get your rock and did it have much life?

Im considering Tampa Bay Saltwater cause I prefer the Florida Rock (yes, I know it is denser) and every says its full of life, but I like to compare things.

Ill be watching your tank...nice setup

My rock is Fuji and it does seem quite heavy and dense, not much life on it either. I bought it from a local place, boxed up, sight onseen, hence the 2.50 per pound price. It was damp when I got, but to dry so I scrubbed it down real good. I ahve since supplemented it with interesting pieces that do have coraline on them. My cycle time was really quite quick, I had minmal light on it for the first month and then added the clowns. After about 40 days, I started to add the additional fish and corals. I did get a diatom bloom and went and got some snails who devoured that right away. I attribute this to phospates from my water. Now I have the green algae, and the coraline is starting to show up on the original rock. To me it sounds as if it didn't really cycle throughly, even though my readings were 0. For the most part I am stable, but I watch every day. You have a better idea by waiting ...on my next tank, I am planning the DSB and a true development of bacteria.
