live shipping from Florida (I've ordered from different sites down there, not this vendor) depends on how they pack/insulate and the time of year you order. So if they ship USPS priority mail 2 days to NY (1 day if you're lucky and 3 days if you're not) in the medium box ($4), in winter without a heat pack? or summer when it's too hot, not going to arrive alive. Spring and fall my friends. That's the only time to order. Otherwise, they'll need to ship in the large box (think its $12) to handle the $2 or $3 heat/ice pack. Also insulation is going to cost a few bucks, so that's already $15 minimum, so if the deal is for $30, I think they are going to skip a few of these shipping upgrades. Plus how many snails can you pack into a bag with enough oxygen that they would live for 3 days? That's going to be a big package.

This coming week is going to be in the 60s so they won't use good insulation or the heat/ice pack. You'll need to confirm, since its probably in the 80s down at their end.

On a side note, I've ordered blue legged hermit crabs from these guys I've linked below, lot of 50 for $40, They were well packed in the medium sized priority shipping box, with foam core insulation (foil on the outside), so I was satisfied. They also sell 50 snails for $50, which seems more logical in price than 100 for $30.

Guys, with as cheap as snails and hermits are, why are you not spending your money at some of our fantastic vendors? Local shops need support, otherwise they close.

I have never paid more than $1 for a blue legged hermit from a good local shop. Guaranteed live arrival!
