120v Vs 125v Outlets For Ballast

shouldn't matter. '120' is anywhere from 117-125vac it fluxuates, actually. do you have switches or fuses inline somewhere that could be bad?

It is a standard two outlet three pronged outlet. I originally plugged it into an surge protector with multiple plugs running my pumps and moon lights etc...and it initially fired, and then stopped a few hours later.
I trouble shot it, and plugged it into a standalone outlet with no apps and it still doesnt work on standard 125v extenstion cord. It is a standard 250w ballast.

is this DE or SE n how long is the cord?
have u rule out is not the bulb?
was it cool off when u re-started it?

The bulbs are all brand new, and i know its not the bulb or the reflector becauses i switched one of my working reflectors/ bulbs to the faulty ballast and vice versa, and it still didnt work, however on my good ballast it did work.
The bulbs are brand new and fired cold.

Gallly, this is being addressed direct by the mfg. The holiday week is causing delays. Totally apologize for the delayed response. We're getting info from the cust svc dept that will resolve the issue. Thanks for your patience. All will be fine very soon.

Gally got the new ballast - he and I talked- I think he's drawing too much on that circuit and the ballast doens' thave enough juice to power up.
he is going to take it and put onto another circuit to test -
Gally keep us posted - I am 99.9% positive it's not the new ballast.

actually got some really good info from House aka Jim. I looked at the outlet in which my tank is plugged into and it is on the same circuit as all of my living room ie TV, over head lights and the my entire tank. I could be over my AMP availability and it really didnt have to do with the ballast @ all.
I am going to try to plug my ballast and light into something completely away from the circuit to see if it works. If it does then it will be b/c i am over my amp allowance. I will then call an electrician to set up a seperate circuit just for my tank.

There was two problems. The first was that I truely did have too many pieces of equipment plugged into my 20 amp circuit. The apt I bought was kind enough to label my circuit breaker, and all the outlets in my living room were hooked up to this one circuit. To get around the problem, i discretely ran an extension cord to the back of my tv stand and plugged in all the tv and stereo components into this different circuit.
Two get a seperate standalone circuit set up strictly for the tank, it would have costed 700 bucks as this was the going rate for jersey city. They would've snaked a wire across my whole apt from the fuse box to my living room.
Russ, also the first ballast actually was bad. The second one works. Everything is square now. Thanks for all the help

If you know what gauge wire is in the walls, you may be able to replace your 20 amp breaker with a larger one.
Provided the wires in the wall will be able to handle the extra load and not create any type of heat issue.
What gauge wire is in the extension chord? That too can heat up and cause problems or worst case scenario, fire.
Feel the extension chord for heat issues, if it is getting super hot, I would recommend getting the new circuit put in.
700.00 is a good price to pay for sound piece of mind.

Gally, glad to hear things worked out - bummed about teh cost to run that circuit - that sucks - $350 here by me -
Also, glad to see that the extension cord supporting the rest of the living room appliances helped the cause and took them off the loving room breaker - glad to hear it all worked out in the end.
