Hey everyone, decided to come back to the "dark side" of the forums as the freshwater members call it lol. With a new upgrade 150 gallon 48x24x30 with corner overflow decided to take its talents to the ocean instead of the amazon river which was originally thought of.

This tank will be a FOWLR:

There is one kind of fish that must be in this tank simply because they are notorious for having the best colors. So all the tank mates will have to be safe with an angelfish. Right now the BlueFace Angelfish is the main target on the angel list...what do you guys think? Are blue face hardy also any other recommendations for an angel?

So I'm basically looking for tank mates for a BlueFace Angelfish or an angel fish that you think will look the best as well as not delicate for a 150 gallon tall tank?

Some of my ideas include the following: Also all tank mates will be smaller or the same size of the angel

Australian Harlequin Tusk
Niger Trigger
BlueJaw Trigger
Green Bird Wrasse
Voltains Lion Fish
Snow Flake Eel
... ^Those are just some fish that come off the top of my head as I write this, of coarse triggers and lions can't be kept together without caution but just an idea.

I say definitely the Harlequin. Awesome fish! I used to have a Majestic Angel which fits similar to the characteristics of a Blue Face Angel.

I have a 144 FOWLR and my tank list is listed below as an example of what works well together. The clowns are grown and the triggers are still small in comparison so I am ok there for now. Eventually may need to swap out for smaller triggers once they get bigger.

Harlequin Tusk, Yellow Tang, Hippo Tang, Oscellaris Clown - Orange & White, Oscellaris Clown - Black & Whilte, Blue Spotted Puffer, Long Nose Hawk, Foxface, Humuhumu Picasso Trigger, Clown Trigger

I will check it out monday. We are trying to have the main show fish, be the Blue Face Angel. Or some other angel of that size that looks great. So basically Im trying to stock fish as tank mates for the blue face angel.

So far Im thinking, Not set in stone!

Blue Face Angel around 5-6 inches (Or another angel you recommend)
Australian Harlequin Tusk 4-5 inches
Green Bird Wrasse 3-4 inches (Want this one to be the smallest of the bunch as I had one and it was somewhat aggressive than again it was the biggest fish in the tank)
Trigger Fish 4 inches (one of the nicer ones like Blue Jaw or Niger)
4-5 Chromis biggest size avail to give some action

Im considering a yellow tang or some kind of yellow fish but if not mistaken they aren't as hardy as other tangs...

As you can tell every fish will at least start off smaller than the tusk and especially the a
angel to hopefully help give them an advantage of having size over there tank mates to deter aggression.

What other fish do you recommend? Pretty sure that it for "Big" Fish and of coarse eventually if any of the fish like the blue face gets too big i will sell it off at a cheap price since i wouldn't want it to fall ill.

Also in case you are wondering for filtration its a custom sump that houses of coarse a big filter sock, classic reef octopus internal rated for up to 300 gallons, filter floss for added mechanical filtration, k1 moving bed filter instead of a fuge since it will be a FOWLR more bio filtration greatly outweighs a fuge in my opinion. The return pump is rated at 2400 and taking the head hight into account there will be an 11x turn over rate of the tank. Of coarse there will be a few jebao wave makers as well to really make sure no crud stays in dead spots.

I haven't had luck with yellow tangs in the past really, candy hog has nice yellow coloring to it and should do fine with the fish you have listed. Instead of chromis maybe am this for activity. I have 5 in my tank and they are all over the place
