Lana,

Scotts are general social wrasses and like to be in community based tanks - up until the point where they aren't compatible with other fish. Can we have some more info on your tank mates? Likely something is chasing it around the tank and into the overflow - rather than covering the overflow and not leaving an "escape" keep it uncovered - if you find the fish in there again, sell it off to someone - the fish doens't want to be in there. Hate to sound like all activist and all, but likley that's an viable issue.

just make sure you have the top of the tank covered till you rid of the other fish ,if the wrasse doesnt find a way to avoid the him ,it might jump out ,,,or try to leave in the sump if there are no pumps that can hurt him .

maybe he likes the ride :biglaugh:

But he'll hate the elevator back up....................

I'd leave the egg crate there. Wrasses can be quirky jumpers, and the egg crate isn't going to interfere with anything covering the overflow.
I don't know what else is in your tank, but better to be safe. I had a pep shrimp go right over the overflow into the rear chambers on my nano. He lived back there for weeks. There was just no way I could get him out of there. I got to feeding him a bit of mysis on occasion. He seemed happy until yesterday, when he got too close to the pump intake screen. I had to tell my daughter that Peppy went to the great Fulton Fish Market in the sky (she didn't buy that, and thought I just flushed what was left). The good news is not a single aptasia in the back!

That is so funny. My snowflake eel did that so many times that I finally just left him in the sump until he couldn't fit through the slots in the overflow box. I don't think that will work with the wrasse thou. Good luck Lana.

My Kole Tang would chase my Algae Blenny into the over flow all the time and he would end up in the sump. It really sucked cause he eventually died due to his abuse. :frown:
