So after having a turf algae bloom that just about wiped out my 140g, moving and downsizing, losing 2 fish from the move, and starting to think everything was going to be okay...
It's back.
Decided to try to nip it in the bud.
My tank is in hour 42 of a blanket wrapped blackout. The tank is in the basement so, not much ambient light anyway. I have one corner of the tank open for a fan to control the temp (holding pretty steady @ 77.5-77.8).
I plan to do a 50% WC when the lights come back on. Will be running poly - pad in the filter socks to help with PO4 removal, as well as changed out GFO. I have changed out my RO filters and di resin. I will also be raising the Mg with Tech M just as an added measure . Hopefully, I will be able to win this time around.
Anyone ever do 72hrs, no light? Would love to hear what to expect, and others experiences. Thanks.

So, couldn't wait the last hour and a half. SOME of the algae has died off. Still a bunch on some rocks. My fish must not be able to see in the dark, a few things were knocked around. Lol.

Temp @ 77.8f, pH @ 8.18.

Did 30% WC,
started Tech M @ 4fl oz.
Added poly pad to help strip PO4.
