I just finished switching my 50gal reef to my new 80gal. What a pain, but fun. I'll like to thank everyone on this board who answered all my questions. Here is a run down of everything. I built the stand and canopy based on cgbexec's plans which uses 3/4" plywood screwed togother with no 2x4's-solid as a rock. I had 2 1" holes drilled on the back of the tank about 3 " from the top. I silonconed skimmer boxes [6"Hx7"Lx5"D] over the BH's, then cut to size egggrate and put them over the boxes to keep snails out. I attached 1 1/2" tees to the back of the BH's, then ran 1 1/2" spa pvc flexable tubing to the sump. On the top part of the tees I put caps and drilled 1/8" holes to brake the siphon. There is no gurling sounds that everyone talks about. I'm using a 20gal high for a sump baffled 3 ways. I'm hanging my Aqua-C Remora on the sump until my wife lets me upgrade to a EV90. I'm using a Mag-drive18 for the return, I have 3/4" to 1" fitting attached to the pump then a 1" union then 1" spa pvc flexable tubing to the top of the tank. There its split by a 1" tee, then 10" of 1" pvc in each direction then on each end are 90* elbows which reduce to 3/4" with 4" of 3/4" Loc-line tubing for returns, also there is 1" ball valve before the 1" tee. I figured my headlose at 9 feet so I'm getting about 425 gph per return. Can someone tell me how to post pictures using a scanner? Also I'm getting alot of micro bubbles returning to the tank, what can be causing this?
Thanks,
David
