I stooped by Sea Vision the other day and got a chance to check out the new spot on Astoria Blvd. I was very impressed by the layout of the store with a nice display of saltwater on the right hand side. On the day that I was there I noted a very large variety of Fish ranging from Tangs and Triggers to Damsels and Blennies. The water is seriously CRYSTAL clear. Standing on one side of the store you can see through 3 rows of tanks and clearly see the display all the way in the back. Along with the nice collection of fish I saw a large host of coral. SPS, LPS, and Softies are plentiful and it is probably the largest variety I've ever seen in one store. There is a $19.99 frag tank with medium to small frags of zoas, some sps, and lps. It is def a fun store to be in. I had the opportunity to meet with Richard the owner who is a down to earth hobbyist. Very hard to find these days as you all know. We spoke for about an hour an reefs and saltwater. I can tell that he really knows and loves saltwater and reefs. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable with a few familiar faces. :shhh: I'm going to Sea Vision my neighborhood LFS. Just wanted to let you all know of my pleasant experience!

I have to 2nd that report.....I've been to Seavisions 3 times now, and have always been impressed. The fish and inverts are healthy and very reasonably priced, staff is great- friendly, knowledgable, but don't act like know-it-alls...they are very open to ideas, and not pushy about selling anything...its as good an LFS as I've ever seen. Not the largest place, and on the days I've been there it hasn't always been the largest selection, but I'll take quality over quantity any day. I have 2 gorgeous clams from there....a crocea and a derasa like no other I've ever seen...it changes from bright orange to blue, depending on the angle you see it, but it looks great from any view. Its literally been years since I've seen affordable clams in an LFS...If you haven't been there yet, by all means check it out...just about 2-3 blocks from the N train Ast. Blvd stop. Its actually easier to reach from Manhattan than from where I live in Queens. Take care, Eric
