Some things beg questions when you read the Standards and Interpretation documents...
1) Define sustainability, then address how you will address this. I mean, to me, sustainability is pretty simple- You are taking only the number of fish that equal the number that will typically recruit. IOW, fish levels do not decline over time. I'd like to know if my simple definition is similar to MAC's or not, then how they would determine that.
2) Spell out how people, facilities or areas can lose certification.
3) Give some serious thought to how MAC will address backsliding when it *does* occur. Historically, it always has occured, and I suspect that it will be only a matter of time before MAC finds some certified collector is still using cyanide, especially as the number of collectors increases. This would create a firestorm if handled inappropriately, and I think MAC should give it some thought and publicly state their policy.
