I am planning on introducing two false perculas. I have a 2.5 gallon fish tank that i plan to set up tomorrow and run a prizm skimmer in it as the only filtration and some live rock. I plan to use the water that is in my main tank and purchase the fish tomorrow. As you might already know i want this to be my QT tank before i introduce the clownfish into my main tank. Now my questions.......
1. will the skimmer and live rock be enough for filtration?
2. How long should I keep these fish before i introduce them to my main tank?
3. If i pick out the perculas what should i look for ex. should i look for males and buy both males and then one will turn to a female or look for a female and a male? I know i could tell them apart from color and size and mostly likely bossiness.

these fish will be purchased from an LFS and he just got the fish today.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Yes it will, actually all you need to do is run the skimmer and you should be fine. Just watch the water quality as it's such a small tank. You may want to do small water changes after a week.

2. How long should I keep these fish before i introduce them to my main tank?
At least 2-4 weeks should be fine but the longer the better.

3. If i pick out the perculas what should i look for ex. should i look for males and buy both males and then one will turn to a female or look for a female and a male? I know i could tell them apart from color and size and mostly likely bossiness.

First makes sure what you're getting is healthy and in good condition. Then try and get two that are of different sizes. Also try and get two from the same tank, that way you can see if they're getting along, starting to pair up, or are fighting. If they're getting along you may have a chance of them pairing up in your tank.

Don't just jump at what he has. Take your time and make sure you pick out a couple of good ones. If they all don't look that great wait until he gets more in or look around for others.
