http://vmsm.com/index.shtml

We went to this aquarium on our vacation last week and right in the front of the main building they had this display.

Its a reef setup with all the parts we keep hidden in ours out where you can see them working.

I thought it was a really neat approach to showing the public what goes on behind the scenes of a tank.

Here is a pic, It was such an interesting display that every time I came by it there were people standing in front of it. :D

Oh, and the surge device they have there is very very quiet, however it puts out a freakin ton of bubbles everywhere

That's pretty cool. Did they have a big skimmer on it with a "smell here" cup of skimmate?

The skimmer is on the bottom right, and while you can't smell it, you can clearly see what it collects. Theirs was getting some nice chunky green stuff!

Yeah, its a chiller, it wasn't running though, so no noise from it. The area the display was in was pretty cool so I am not sure if its even used.

This looks relatively new. The Waikiki Aquarium has a setup just like this (with a little pH meter and all) that looks like it's been there for awhile.

Maybe Charles could post some pics of it. It is a great concept.

Yeah I saw the one at Waikiki Aquarium it is looking a little old. They have a new clam tank display now that I am looking forward to seeing this year.
