OK.. I did a mercy buy at the LFS for a nice acro that was $19. I mean, how do you turn that down. The pic is below. I've noticed its excreting some sort of mucus or somthin.....also, will I be able to color this thing back up? or is this the color it was suppose to be?

Also, the base (whats its stuck under the rock with) is bleached and dead. Should I frag that part off? Or just wait to see if it spreads?

B.

It's probably just sliming from stress. White Band Disease usually starts from the base, so I'd keep an eye on it. If it starts to progress, try a Lugol's Dip. If that doesn't stop it, I'd frag off what you can.

You can still see polyps, so that's a good sign. I would have asked maybe $10 for a piece like that.

Good luck!

Rather you can color this back up is tough question. Most probably, with good care and 1/2 cup of luck, you will end up with a green-tipped acrop.

<-- is a acro neophyte at this point so thanks for the comments.

QUESTION: Should I see polyps come out? I can see them on the skeleton, but nothing that comes out to eat.

Also, (and related to the last question) does one feed acro? I have DT's and cyclopees on hand at the moment.

IME cyclopeeze is too big for acros and they dont eat DT'd phytoplankton if thats what you are talking about. If you mean DT's oyster eggs then yes it can be fed that.

Hmm no.. its photoplankton I was referring too. Should I even worry about feeding? It is under 250DE MH 14K . About a foot down

Yeah Phyto is no good for acros, they love the oyster eggs though!

Feeding is a secondary option but the main goal is stability. Temp, salinity, CA/ALK, and very low nutrient levels should all be mantained at a proper stable level. That is the way to an Acros heart... :D

Then I should do pretty good with the guy. MY RODI keeps change and top-off water at a cool 0-TDS and I dose with B-Ionic (the best ALK/CA additive you can buy IMO). He's under 250W DE MH 14K Blueline bulb with a temp that stays right around 77F.

Hopefully I will see some polyp extension in the next few days:)

Thanks for the advice fellas:)

Looks good to me. Sometimes it takes a while for an acro to put it's polyps out in a new tank. Mine have ranged from hours to weeks. IMO good deal for 19 bux.

Great! Usually just stress. After a while you should start to see the polyps come out much more often.
