acrylic sump question

Has anyone drilled (after market) an acyrlic sump to be used with an external pump?

any major concerns in doing so? appreciate all feedback

can't even tell you how many times I've drilled acrylic tanks and sumps!
...just use fine tooth bit, slower speed, very light pressure on drill

great, thanks for reply. my initial thought would be much easier than drilling glass

I drilled mine and it was very very easy. As Al said, go slow with drill and it will be very smooth.

if you mist the hole saw bit with a little bit of water you will get a cleaner hole.

Yeah use some sort of lube... Just some general advice... Lube makes everything easier.... Just sayin

I drilled my mew custom king sump and it was really easy. Make sure the drill is straight and use a hole saw. Worked like a charm.

Thanks guys, made a deal here for an aqueon sump but will need to drill side for ext pump, based on responses it should be fine
