Adding vodka into the mix?

I already dose vinegar in my tank via my ato ! It has helped in 2 ways dosing this way! first off I don't have too dose every day all at once ! 2 nd the vinegar allows more absorption of the kalk I was able too lower the amount of co2 I was adding too my tank my ph has been higher so all and all I'm very happy with this method ! But with my heavy feelings my brown film alage is a little too heavy so my question is can I add vodka into my ato with the vinegar and kalk ?? Thinking about adding 1 ml per gallon of top off my tank avaporates about a gallon a day !

I would not advise that at all. Vodka and vinegar does basically the same thing and it would more or less be doubling the dose. Stick to one dosing method. Vodka is also very easy to overdose on and is probably the least safe of the methods that are in the same category because of that. Sugar is another option people use. The only thing I have dosed is Vitamin C it's good for fish and definitely has a positive effect on corals.

I dose vinagar only also for the reasons you mentioned, but vodka can be safely added to the mix as well, but in lower dosages because it's a stronger carbon source..do a search in the Chemistry Forums here and on RC....there is plenty info on dosage rates etc....personally I can't waste perfectly good alcohol in that way...LOL

according to some of the articles I have read yes you can because they are different carbon sources, but follow the dosage rates carefully so not to over dose especailly with the vodka because it is much stronger..but IMO I don't think is necessary...
