just made these disappearing/adjustable frag racks, which is under each (have 2) 24" corner overflow...each rack can hold 20-30 frags (fully extended), but my original idea, was to get certain frags to grow onto the overflow box. any opinions? possible problems? patent infringement?
BTW, that is a 'test' piece of plexi. not the actual drilled piece. Few more pics in my tank thread http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/showthread.php?p=766979#post766979

Hey Al nice idea... but wouldn't it impeed flow in the overflow box if your not using the frag rack at a particular time? Nevermind... reread the thread... KEYWORD: UNDERNEATH !

GREAT IDEA!!

I am thinking it will bend downwards after being weighted down for a few months...

I thought of that, which is why I made 'full width support' under them, as well as being removable (they may also end-up encrusted with coral, which may require their replacement)

Cool idea :)
Why not just glue the frags you want to grow there directly onto the overflow? ;)
I got this idea while thinking about my options for 'overflow/coral placement'...until I see something that I would really like to 'permanently' cover the overflow, this gives me the option to easily change it around (at least, thats what I'm thinking, today! )

If you're making it for resale, then you'd be concerned about patent infringement. If you're making it for your own personal use, who cares if somebody came up with the idea before you. Patent infringement wouldn't apply.

It's a nice idea but it would be appealing to a limited number of reefers. Most (not all) reefers with overflow boxes in their tanks have the overflow box extending all the way to the bottom of the tank.

Just my initial observations if you're thinking of investing any funds into a patent.

Good luck and a nice idea for your use.
