Hey everyone I needed an opinion I'm starting up my upgrade, I already added caribsea live sand as a base. I wanted to add Ultra white calcium carbonate reef substrate fine grade sand over the live sand. Is this ok? I have a 40 lb bag I wanted to use since it looks really nice and white. I'm not familiar with dry sand. A friend of mine gave it to me. I know its expensive stuff.

Any advice would be great.

you should put the live sand down and mix in the other sand. its the same as with live and dead rock. seed the base then the bacteria will spread like crazy. bacteria grows prity fast. alot faster then everyone thinks.

I think it is better to just go with the Caribsea, the finer stuff tends to go everywhere every time you do any kind of work in the tank. I made the mistake of starting out with the ESV sand. The stuff was as fine as flour, never again...
