I also have not heard of monti snails, they must nean nudi's. That is a really interesting tip, I have been told that the monti eating nudi's are a real pain and the eggs are really hard to remove (cemented on).

Some discussion of that is going on about this in the sps forum over at RC as well.

I find it hard to believe at this moment though, I mean if the coral will be gone after 24 hours what's to say they don't start eating the coral initially?

This topic is running the forums right now. Too bad for me it hadnt come up three months ago. I might have tried it Here is a general sum up of the treatment.

Quote:"the person from KZ said that they tried using these shrimp in a display tank but it wasn't effective. Then they put 150 of them in a 100 gallon tank by themselves, and then they were in business."

Another quote, I tend to agree with the first part. "Maybe they got really hungry and when a coral was introduced they chowed down. I could see applying this theory via qt tank, for incoming corals."

I've also been told that a melanarus wrasse will help to keep the AEFW's populations down. It just goes to show, on a reef natural predation and balance by everything helps to keep the little critters etc. in check.

Well I'm going to try it. We happen to have a bunch of Rhynchocinetes shrimp here.

Yah, if you don't mind them eating other things as well :)
(made same comment on the other threads)

I've seen camels mow down a LOT of stuff. Sure, they'll eat the nudis, then polyps and flesh!
