I had done this. Put the air pump in a Tupperware container and have a hose running from that to outside then an airline running into my first sump chamber. Make sure Tupperware is fully sealed so that it has to pull fresh air from outside. Worked well for when my girlfriend wants to light all her candles and dive bomb my ph :)

Am I supposed to be adjusting the air flow of this pump that's now going to the skimmer intake? Is so using what observations? Skimmer has really kicked into hi gear now.

I thought about all those low PH solutions years ago..fresh air, pumps, scrubbers etc... but all I did was started to add kalk in with my ATO with a PH of over 11... it does two things keeps up the DT PH and also adds cal/alk so my reactor doesn't have to work as hard....I also add vinagar to it as well which not only super saturates the kalk so I use less of it to maintain proper levels, but it's a carbon source as well to lower phos/trates...

I wouldnt "Inject" air from a pump into your skimmer... Just put an airstone in the skimmer section of the sump and let the air pump work seperately;

Right I was thinking that. Because what I'm doing now is I have an airpump pushing air into the skimmer intake which has a pump that is trying to "pull" air into the skimmer. So is "forcing" this air into the skimmer intake (and thus the skimmer pump) potentially damaging? Meaning can I take care of these changes tonight when I get home from work or should I be calling my wife at home and asking her to immediately unplug the pump that is currently forcing air into the skimmer intake?

In the end I'm just restoring the skimmer to normal..ie., let the skimmer intake do it's thing naturally and instead have that other airpump inject air into an airstone that sits in the skimmer portion of the sump.
