How good, or bad are All Glass Aquarium stands?
How sturdy are they? Anyone have one that started to lean, bow, or even give out completely? Is there enough room for sump etc. underneath.
Are there any other brands that are noticeably better/worse?

I've always built my own before, but time is kinda limited these days. The tank will prbly be a 125gal. I'm concerned about sturdiness, since there is no doubt my kids will banging on the glass, bumping into the tank, bouncing balls off it, etc.
Thanks, Dan

I have AGA - Modern Series - Natural Cherry stand. Fits a 30 gall sump, room for pump, ballasts and extra space. [125 tank]

No notice of threat of bowing or collapse. However, they use a staple gun to nail things together with long staples. Their finish isn't all that they brag about. It looks nice, but if I spill water on it, I can wipe off stain when I dry water off.

Canopy, well if you are going to run PC it will be okay. However, if you add fans like I did on each end, the damn thing viberates and is loud. Wood on sides only 1/4 inch plywood. Not really tall enough to put MH lights in.

Best advice. If you have time to wait a month, then go to LFS and get a cutom built one. If you are in hurry like I was when I started in hobby and didn't know better, stand will work fine, but canopy limits what you can for lights. [I made DIY retrofit light system 4 96w pc adn 2 55w pc. COuld of fit 6 96w pc, but got bad adice at time I got lights from LFS guy on dimensions]

I have an AGA stand for my corner bow front that looks really nice. Seems to be really sturdy has I constantly have to lean on it to change the prefilter in the back. Plenty of room in it as well.

I have a AGA on my ninty, I opted for the black becasue cherry wouldn't work with the interior design of the office. Anyway, the only problem I am having with it is that the inside floor is falling down on one side. Thank god the sump is on the other side.

i have an AGA cherry stand also. Looks great and no sign of bowing or anything. I was concerned also because its a reef set up and with all the weight was nervous. No problems. Only thing i don't like is the height. I would rather it be a little taller. I had my canopy custom made to match due to the metal halide lights (12" canopy) If i did it over I'd have one made

I had the same problem as Katspaw...its because they staple the floor of the stand in from underneath, and if it ever gets a little bit of water on it, the staples pull right out!

If/when I breakdown my tank and set it up again I plan on reinforcing the floor of the stand from underneath with pine slats or something...just for peace of mind!

Other than that they are OK, but Oceanic stands are definitely better quality (even though I think they are the same company!).
