I would say that one if not more of your parameters is out of whack. Test your tank for phosphates definitely but I would check your Cal, alk and mg too.

personally i would try doing multiple water change first, and also test the parameters.
try to siphon as much out algae as possible when doing the water change.

why are you using purple up?

Try finding out what is wrong first. WC's and chemi clean won't help you out if you don't know what the problem really is.

With your dosing you probably are causing the cyano, Please post your water parameters.

I agree, someone else posted some questions on purple up and i answered about my old 65g I had ... i dosed that stuff from time to time and went through a frustrating period of the red stuff, also known as cyano ... it peels right off but if your water is out of whack it comes back with a vengeance . Also if your over feeding I have found out the left over food that sits on the rocks will also likely cause it to form as well ... Once its rectified though, as quickly as it shows it all disappears .

Stop dosing the purple stuff, likely your problem, do a nice water change, and check your water ... also if you can try and siphon it off ... won't hurt .. .
