I am having bad algae issues , turf algae , gha , cyano , and bubble . I have been doing WC's , gfo , brushing with brush and siphoning as much as I can off the rocks. I am starting to get the cyano under control . I had cut an angle on the end of a hose to scrape algae off rock while I am siphoning . Is there an existing tool sort of a a brush that you can put hose on so you can brush and siphon at the same time or any other tool ? Its really making want to throw in the towel.

I would recommend doing more smaller water changes if it's convenient and do the manual removal of algae really bad proportions. The turnaround on that isn't very fast but it also helps keep whatever is alive in your tank happy. If possible, 5-7 gallon water every other day. After maybe once a week do manual removal. You should start seeing results after 2 to 3 weeks. Again consistency is the key. It's a royal pita, and I hated doing it on my tank, the only reason I actually was able to get through it is because I didn't have to lug 5 gallon buckets around.

Was able to use 40 gallon garbage can's and marked off 10 gallon intervals. One for dirty water and one for fresh mixed. When weekend came around mixed up a fresh batch.

Hey Chris

Had similar problems a year ago. Here's what I finally did that worked.....

My situation was not terrible, but trending in that direction. I had Red turf.
I went out and bought an army of Turbo snails. 1 for every 3 gallons of water, plus a few Emerald Crabs for good measure.
I acclimated them all and dumped them in.
Next I started the first of about 4 rounds of Chemiclean, following manufacturers instructions, and doing a weekly 20% WC. I also scrubbed he'll out of the algae with a really stiff nylon brush every day.
What I think made this process prevail was the Chemiclean weakened the Algea's foothold and the Turbos cleaned it all up. Hard to tell since I panicked and did all this simultaneously.
Try the Turbos first before you resort to chemicals. My algae problem cleared up completely in 2 weeks.
The real question is what caused the algae problem in the first place. Sounds like there are too many nutrients in the water. Check that Phosphate! Get it down to below .06 and you should be good.

Best of luck.
