The dreaded cyano matt has made its first appearance in my 120 and I wonder am I over feeding?
120gal mixed reef with
Yellow tang, clown tang, hippo tang, powder blue tang, 3 Nemos, 1 flame angel, 1 6 line wrasse, 1 damsel, 1 half purple half yellow same size as damsel, plus shrimp, snails and hermit crabs. Every day I feed 1 cube PE Mysis, 1 cube cyclopeeze, 1 disc of something the tangs nip all day and occasionally marine snow.
Is that too much?

I wouldn't think it's to much if all your fish are consuming it. If you see some on the floor simply vacuum it out. How are your nitrates and phosphate levels? Only asking cause from what I understand is excess nutrients aid in cyano

I'm registering low on the nitrates and phosphates I'm thinking it's the cyano absorbing it. I'm thinking about cutting the cyclopeeze out for 2 weeks and see what happens. I just thought that the cyclopeeze is the reason acans and zoa grow so well in my tank

This does not seem like overfeeding but if your aquarium set up is young, the biological filtration system or maybe the bacteria ecosystem is just not mature enough to out compete cyanobacteria growth.

Water chemistry might be an imperfect predictor of cyanobacteria. There is a hint of a trend in the Cyano Survey data in the General Discussion forum that the age of the aquarium is an important factor. We will need more contributions to the survey to firm up this observation.

Do you turn or powerheads and pumps off when you feed? If you don't you can try that. It will prevent a lot of the food from getting trapped in the rocks and decompose.
