I've been wanting to do some video of reef tanks for a little while and I just picked up this HD camera for $180 on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GXR03U/?tag=reefs04-20

It takes 1080p video and it is absolutely amazing. I took some video of my tank tonite and played them on my 32" LCD. It's like I am watching blue planet. :)

No joke this camera has stunning macro capabilities. I uploaded a bunch to youtube (some are still uploading) and since they take HD now, you can see some of the amazing quality. Make sure you click on the HD icon in the player to see the best quality. Also make sure you make it full screen. YT compresses it to 720p but that still looks great.

I plan on doing alot with this camera, so if you have interesting fish, unique corals, etc, you'll probably be hearing from me. I only have a few cool things in my tank so I'll need to document some other people's tanks.

how is is the low light sensitivity of it?

This was shot under T5s so the light was pretty strong. I took some of my nano which is under PCs an it was fine too.

It does not need much light.

I'll update the playlist tonite, I got some great shots of my pulsing sinularia, yellow clown gobies, and blue candy canes (bot closed and open).

I will be soliciting for NYC reefers with amazing tanks soon.

Some I'd like to hit so far:

PrattReef's Aquariums
Manhattan Aquariums Circular tank
Reef Aquariums Showcase tank
Atlantis Marine World Reef tank (i'll need an underwater case and a scuba diver for that one though)

Oh also I am going to Atlanta in June, so you know what that means.. Georgia Aquarium!

LOL so I tried to do some editing of HD video and found out my 2 year old gaming laptop can't handle HDV. So I now need to buy a new computer. Turns out my inexpensive camera wasn't so inexpensive after all.

I've been getting some good closeup shots of my pulsing sinularia but I can't edit anything together right now. :(
