I've been looking for the ro/di unit, and here are my questions.

Is the catalytic carbon stage for chloramine necessary? Yes, my water district does add chlorine to the water.

Is a dual DI stage unit really necessary? Or is it just one of those things that is really nice to have but has no real practical purpose outside of lazy/stupidity control?

Or would a standard 4 stage unit be fine? There is only a $20 difference from the 4 stage to the 5 stage chloramine one, but the dual DI chloramine 6 stage one is about $70 more.

You only need a chloramine filter if your treatment plant uses it, otherwise it is not worth the upgrade, unless you may plan on moving somewhere that does. Call them or do some googling.

I have a tds meter right before my di and it reads at .001 going in and .000 going out. I don't know how bad the .001 is, but I would agree that you can't beat nil.
