Other then Copperbands and Bannerfish, are there any other butterflies you've attempted in your reefs?

I want one more fish :)

Good topic Len. I am leaning this way as well, but haven't mustered the courage to get one yet. I am quite afraid of all the things that can go wrong with them.

I hear rumor that raccon butterfly fish are supposed to be reef safe.

I also keep a Pyramid Butterfly in my reef right now. It's very well behaved. Other than that, I've heard (not actually tried it myself) that some heniochus are reef safe, HighFin Coralfish http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/butterflyfish/altivelisbutterflyaustralia/ and the Mueller's Butterfly http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/butterflyfish/muelleributterfly/.

I think those are your basic options. If you want a butterfly in your reef, your best bets are something from the Chelmon genus (copperband related), from the Coradion genus (just as risky as copperbands), the Heniochus, and the Hemateleotris genus (related to Pyramid Butterfly and probably the best reef butterfly).

I have a Klein's Butterfly in my 'reef'. But I am never around it so I have no idea if he is causing any real problems; however, they should only eat softies such as colt, leather, and maybe aptasia? But, I did have a klein's that possibly ate a whole bunch of softies in a larger tank I placed it in; and maybe the montiporas and hydnophora- I was not around to see the massacre.

Ooooh, dear lord no. Were you kidding?

We're in the process of removing one from a 700 g right now. Even with all that space it picks at everything. We've had to remove brains, Euphyllias, SPS, zoanthids, mushrooms, you name it he's picked at it.

Pyramid, wrought irons, copperbands, and sometimes tinkeri's are safe. I kept a four eye that had a craving for zoas, but left sps alone.

my new tank will be butterfly and angel focused...with enough sps to keep them happy. I'm dying to have a trio of pakistani's.
