Anyone ever have a MH bulb explode?

So I'm watching TV and I hear a loud boom (which scared the crap out of me), The sound came from my tank in the same room. I go over to my tank and noticed that one of the 3 bulbs in my fixture is in pieces and that it exploded. Did anyone ever have this happen to them? The bulbs are about a year old and are due for a changing but I didn't think old bulbs would explode, anyone have any ideas?

Are they exposed to the wateR? Maybe a fish splashed it with a lot of water

I thought the same thing guy's but the water shield is on the fixture and nothings wet. Sounded like a gun shot and I'm still a little shaky from it lol
