anyone use mud in fuge?

wondering if anyone uses mud in fuge. if so, did you use a dsb previously? i read that you have to swap out mud peridocially with new/fresh just wondering if the results were any different (better)

Used Miracle Mud, 7+ yrs ago, for about 3 years...saw nothing special...could not grow mangroves in it... ended up removing it. Been running a DSB/plenum system since...planning on removing sand/cleaning entire 8' 200g sump this month.

I have not been a fan of it. Personally in an apartment I feel like it starts to omit an odor, but that could just be me, maybe I smell...

used miracle mud for 3 yrs. supposed to change out 1/2 after the first 2 yrs and the 1/2 every year after that. stopped because it was expensive and didn't really see anything special except easier to see the pods against the black contrast.
running a remote dsb now....don't see any difference from the mud.
