Aqua Medic TurboFlotor 1000 Multi SL Protein Skimmer - help

Hi all,
I recently purchased the Aqua Medic TurboFlotor 1000 Multi SL Protein Skimmer. It was working fine until this past week when the cup starting filling up uncontrollably. i ran the pump in clean water to try and flush anything out. i blew through the air line to make sure it was patent. it seems like something is malfunctioning as it was working properly up until this week. Any ideas?

There's too much air going in - I put a valve on the air line tubing to control and the cup fills up slower; while the skimmer still has lots of bubbles

but when i put my thumb over the air-inline tube to block the air input the cup fills up even faster. also, that wouldnt explain how suddenly one day the cup started filling to quickly...

Yep, theres two holes one hole on top of the small tube that sits outside the tank, and a valve I have in between the tubing that connects to the pump.

You basically have to fiddle with it; till theres enough bubbles to push to the collection cup but not enough to fill quickly.

Make sure your two control valves on the skimmer is facing forward (fully open) so it outputs at the max; if its closed or semi closed - the cup gets filled instantly.

this valve, its inside the pump housing? so you have to remove the housing from where the airline hooks up to the main pump?

oh... i was using those for a while. now the cup overfills regardless of what i do with those

Hmm maybe its height of the skimmer is it in sump or hanging?

i modded my airline tube with check valves to limit airflow which has worked for me. In the beginning the skimmer is a headache but once it starts working right - everything is perfect. a real good skimmer +1

the skimmer is hanging on the side of the aquarium. can you send me a picture of your modification? if its not too much trouble. thanks!

it still seems odd to me that it was working fine for a month and then suddenly it isnt.

i even tried running it with the 2 valves out completely and still i get overflow into the cup
